Have you been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in the last year?

Have you had a diagnoses of Diabetic Retinopathy?

Researchers are investigating early detection of diabetic retinopathy through non-invasive imaging of the eye and want to speak with consumers with and without a diagnosis to provide feedback to researchers on various aspects of the study such as recruitment, design, and translational relevance.

Cystinosis Research

Do you have cystinosis?

Researchers at the University of Western Australia are seeking a Research Buddy who has lived experience with cystinosis to be involved in their exciting research project on a new gene that may be involved in cystinosis. Your lived experience will help to guide research aims for this project. You will share your experiences as a cystinosis patient or a parent/carer of a cystinosis patient, providing feedback on proposed research, and reading proposals to ensure they are in plain language and can be understood by the general community.

Air Quality and Cancer

Australian researchers are investigating how outdoor air quality in Australia may influence the risk of developing cancer. The cancers that they will investigate are lung, breast, liver, bladder and prostate cancer. As a Research Buddy, you will partner with the research team to ensure the community’s voice is reflected in their work and provide advice on how our findings can be most useful to the public.

Probiotics supplements for sick newborn babies project

Researchers at the Child and Adolescent Health Service are developing a research project that will examine the best dosage of probiotic supplements to give to sick newborn infants to correct the imbalance between good bacteria and bad bacteria in their gut. They are seeking parents of babies that have spent time in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at King Edward Memorial Hospital and/or Perth Children’s Hospital to support them by sharing their insights, thoughts and experiences as research buddies.

Sudden Insights Study

Gaining insight into Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood.

We are seeking bereaved parents who have had a child die of undetermined causes and can relate to losing a child of either Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) or Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) to be a part of this Consumer Advisory Group.

A New Treatment for Adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa

We seek people aged 18-24 years of age, with lived experience of Anorexia Nervosa to be a part of research project to help us design a treatment that better reflects what adolescents need during recovery. You will help decide how the sessions are structured, how long the treatment should be, what topics are important and how the treatment is delivered. This collaborative process ensures that the final intervention is practical, meaningful and grounded in real experiences.
