Together with our Western Australian Health Translation (WAHTN) Partner Organisations, we work in collaboration with many other agencies and organisations to support involvement in health and medical research.

Western Australian Health Translation Network

WAHTN is the State’s body for coordination and advocacy for translational Health and Medical Research. WAHTN operates as a multi-site, state-wide, collaborative health translation network which brings together WA’s universities, medical research institutes, public and private hospitals, PathWest and the WA Department of Health to embrace and accelerate research translation. The vision of WAHTN is to achieve a holistic approach to healthcare that seamlessly integrates research, clinical care, community health, policy, training and innovation to deliver the highest possible quality of health care, resulting in the attraction and retention of world class clinicians and longer and healthier lives for West Australians. WAHTN is the parent organisation of the Consumer and Community Involvement Program.

Australian Clinical Trials Alliance (ACTA)

ACTA is the national peak body supporting and representing networks of clinician researchers conducting investigator-initiated clinical trials, clinical quality registries and clinical trial coordinating centres within the Australian health system. These groups cover a broad range of disease groups and clinical disciplines and represent a large proportion of the clinical research conducted in Australia each year.

Australian Health Research Alliance (AHRA)

AHRA is the national network of National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) accredited translation centres from across Australia which currently includes seven Advanced Health Research and Translation Centres (AHRTCs) and three Centres for Innovation in Regional Health (CIRHs). The Centres bring acute health services, community health services, primary care, research institutes, universities and Government together to translate research into best practice to improve patient care, and health outcomes for the Australian population. The Centres are working on a wide range of projects locally and together on key national system level initiatives and research networks.

Cancer Council Western Australia

Cancer Council Western Australia is WA’s leading cancer charity working across every aspect of every cancer. As a community-funded organisation Cancer Council WA relies on donations and support from West Australian’s to deliver their work across four main pillars: Advocacy, Prevention, Research and Support.

Department of Premier and Cabinet (WA)

The Department of Premier and Cabinet provide quality policy and administrative advice and support to the Premier and Cabinet Ministers. They play a central role in Executive Government functions in Western Australia.

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH)

FSH is the major tertiary hospital in the south metropolitan area and offers comprehensive health care services to adults and children. FSH delivers hospital and community-based public health care services to a population of almost 650,000 people and a catchment area stretching 3,300 square kilometers across the southern half of Perth. The FSH network also includes the Rockingham General Hospital, Fremantle Hospital, Murray District Hospital and the Peel Health Campus (delivered as a public private partnership with Ramsay Health Care).

Health Consumers Council WA (HCCWA)

HCCWA is an independent, non-profit organisation ensuring the consumer is at the heart of the State’s health care system. They provide an Individual Advocacy Service to help consumers navigate the health system. They also provide systemic advocacy for the WA Community by participating on a large range of committees and working groups to ensure the consumer voice is heard at the highest level.

St John WA

St John WA (formerly St John Ambulance WA) is a charitable, non-profit, humanitarian organisation teaching first aid to the community together with the delivery of the State’s ambulance service while also shaping and leading the sector nationally. St John has operated as part of the Western Australian community for more than 125 years.

Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre

The Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre is the hub for people impacted by type 1 diabetes in Western Australia. The Centre was established in response to the need for better support for children with type 1 diabetes and their families. In 2018 the Family Centre expanded its services to young adults and adults, responding to the need for lifelong support for a lifelong medical condition. The Centre now serves all people with type 1 diabetes in Western Australia, offering support at every age and stage.

WA Country Health Service (WACHS)

WACHS provides accessible health services to regional populations and a quality health care workforce to those locations. WACHS is part of the six Health Service providers located in Western Australia.

WA Primary Health Alliance

The WA Primary Health Alliance’s role is to simplify and increase access to primary health care by planning, guiding and directing investment towards important services. The Alliance works with their partners across the state to develop a health system which works for people, ensuring they can access excellent care closer to home. The WA Primary Health Alliance looks at system-wide gaps and identifies priorities which then encourage innovation in the delivery of care and is locally accessible.

Western Australian Cardiovascular Research Alliance (WACRA)

WACRA is the peak leadership body in Western Australia advancing research into heart, stroke and vascular disease to accelerate translation and improve health outcomes for all Western Australians. WACRA represents cardiovascular researchers working across the pipeline from fundamental pre-clinical research, epidemiology and public health through to clinical trials.
