Involvement aims to ensure our mental health research and related activities are informed by real world experiences by those who have been directly impacted.

About the Position

Research Buddies will work alongside the research team throughout projects, helping to ensure lived experience perspective, both positive and challenging, are meaningfully incorporated across all stages of research planning, implementation, and review.

What Am I Expected to Do?

Attend regular meetings with the research team (e.g., monthly or quarterly)
Review documents (e.g., grant applications, consent forms, surveys)
Share your lived experience and insights
Help design participant recruitment strategies

What Skills or Experience Do I Need?

Be directly impacted by a mental health condition(s)
No previous consumer panel or research experience is required; however, participants must be willing to engage respectfully and contribute to a safe and inclusive environment.

How Long Am I Expected to Be Involved?

This is an ongoing participant group. We are seeking a lived-experience input into several mental health research projects. Participants will be invited to contribute on an as-needs-basis. Participation is flexible, with members invited to attend meetings online or in person or contribute on an as-needed basis depending on their availability and capacity. However, we anticipate meetings to take place quarterly for about 90 minutes. Occasional emails may be sent between meetings.

Where Will Meetings Be Held?

A mix of in-person and online, depending on consumer preference

What Support Is Offered?

An honorarium of $50.00 per hour is available for consumer involvement activities in line with CCIProgram guidelines
Training and support provided by the CCIProgram or relevant support body.
