About the project and the involvement opportunity
The PARTNER Network is part of the Australian Teletrials program. It has been funded to help create a national rural practice-based research network helping build infrastructure to support more clinical trials in rural general practice to be part of new world-leading clinical trials.
The PARTNER Network Community Advisory Group (CAG) provides advice on research directions and priorities from a consumer perspective. It also reviews potential clinical trials to make sure they are important to rural Australians and are designed in a way that is suitable for a primary care setting.
About the position
We are looking for two regional Western Australian representatives to join a national group of up to 16 community members who represent a diverse range of geographic locations, health conditions and lived experience of the Australian healthcare system.
What am I expected to do?
Use your lived experience to give a consumer perspective for research direction, priorities, clinical trial design. Attend meetings, reviewing meeting papers or research proposals giving your opinion.
What skills or experience do I need?
You need to live in a regional or rural area, have an interest in healthcare and the health needs of Australians living in regional or rural areas. Experience in research is not required.
How long am I expected to be involved?
Members join up for 1-year and can be reappointed for longer. Total commitment for 1 year will be 10-12 hours.
Where will meetings be held?
The group meets at least 3 times per year via Zoom/videoconference.
What support is offered?
All members of the Community Advisory Group will be reimbursed for their time attending meetings, reviewing meeting papers or research proposals and where appropriate any costs related to travel. Training and support is offered by the Consumer and Community Involvement Program.
