Overcoming chemo-resistance in advanced ovarian cancer – Research Buddy/Consumer Investigator

About the position
Researchers are seeking consumer representatives who can share their lived experience with ovarian cancer to inform the research team. Your perspective will be invaluable in setting research priorities, evaluating project feasibility and communicating the outcomes to a wider audience.

What am I expected to do?

  • Meet with researchers 2-4 times a year
  • Review and provide feedback on plain language summaries for grant applications and reports
  • Help researchers understand the needs and concerns of consumers from a lived experience perspective, informing the research process.

What skills or experience do I need?

  • We are seeking individuals either with lived experience of ovarian cancer or with the lived experience of caring for someone with ovarian cancer
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to provide feedback, comments, and suggestions to the research team from your own lived experience
  • Strong communication skill

How long am I expected to be involved?
The projects are expected to run for three years. Your involvement would be appreciated for as long as you are able to assist.

What support is offered?
$37.50 per hour honorarium. Training and support are offered by the Consumer and Community Involvement Program.
