The Health Research Hub (HRH) is a national online hub powered by Monash University in partnership with the Australian Health Research Alliance (AHRA). The Hub hosts practical tools and real-world examples to support meaningful consumer and community involvement (CCI) in health and medical research and in healthcare improvement, for researchers, healthcare professionals, consumers and community members across Australia. As the Hub grows, we want to make sure it continues to reflect what consumers and community members need. We are establishing a Consumer Reference Committee (CRC) to help guide its ongoing development, from the resources we offer to how we share them.
About the Involvement Opportunity
The Health Research Hub is looking for consumers and community members to join our new Consumer Reference Committee (CRC). The HRH is a national online resource developed by Monash University with the Australian Health Research Alliance. It aims to help researchers, health professionals and consumers work together more effectively on health research and healthcare improvement. As a CRC member, you will bring your own lived experience of health, illness, or the health system to guide how the Hub develops. You will help review resources and tools, give feedback on how easy the Hub is to use and understand, and share ideas about what consumers and communities need most from a resource like this. Your input will help keep the Hub practical, accessible, and useful for the people it is designed to support. It will also help show what good consumer partnership looks like in practice.
About the Position
- Attend and actively participate in Consumer Reference Committee meetings
- Review Hub resources, tools, website content, and provide feedback from a consumer perspective
- Share your experience of health research, healthcare, or community involvement to help guide the Hub’s direction
- Help identify gaps or opportunities where the hub could better support consumers and communities
Experience Required
- Lived experience as a consumer, carer, or community member connected to health research or healthcare, anywhere in Australia
- An interest in how consumers and communities are involved in research and healthcare improvement
- A willingness to share your perspective openly and respectfully in a group setting
- The ability to attend online meetings and reading materials beforehand (support is available if needed)
- We welcome people from all backgrounds, whether you are new to consumer involvement or have well established experience
How long am I expected to be Involved?
One year, with the option to renew at the end of your term. You are welcome to step down at any time.
How will meetings be held, and how often?
4-5 times per year.
What Support is Offered?
$50 per hour honorarium.
