About the Project and the Involvement Opportunity
Cancer is an ongoing epidemic that affects millions of Australians every year. Additionally, some subtypes such as bowel cancer, have seen rising rates in younger populations. Early screening remains the most effective intervention to improve survival rates, however existing cancer screening paradigms are fragmented, invasive, and often inadequate at capturing very early-stage disease.
We are inviting individuals who have lived experience of the cancer screening and diagnosis journey, as well as individuals who have close friends and family with similar experiences. Insights gained from this initiative will help researchers develop screening initiatives tailored specifically to patients.
This involvement opportunity seeks to recruit individuals that have experienced the current cancer screening paradigm (bowel, breast, lung cancer screening etc.), as well as those with close friends and family who have done so. You do not need to have a formal diagnosis of cancer to participate in this initiative.
Consumer involvement in this study is essential as it will guide the research team in the project design, implementation, and ultimately dissemination of findings amongst the wider community.
