About the project and the involvement opportunity
The Nutrition and Health Innovation Research Institute at Edith Cowan University is driven by a vison of creating healthy people and healthy communities through impactful research. Our dedicated team conducts projects aimed at reducing the burden of disease by developing, translating, and implementing nutrition and health innovation research. Our work spans across all ages, from early childhood through older adulthood, embracing a comprehensive approach to improving health and quality of life.

The purpose of this Consumer Advisory Group is to advise and direct our research initiatives to ensure they are designed to find solutions to problems that are most important to the people who need them.

About the position
We are seeking to create a Consumer Advisory Group (CAG) consisting of a maximum of 12 consumers. As a CAG member, you will be asked to attend 4 meetings each year.

What am I expected to do?
Consumer Advisory Group members will be expected to give feedback about the overall research direction of the Institute.
Consumer members will be expected to attend scheduled meetings four times per year for discussions around the proposed projects and directions for the Institute. Additionally, you will be asked to review documents and provide comment and feedback around plans, drafts, and design of plain-language materials.

Your involvement in this opportunity will directly contribute to the ongoing success in improving the health of the people and communities served by the Nutrition and Health Innovation Research Institute.

  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to provide feedback, comment, and suggestions around document feasibility and design
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and spoken conversation.

We encourage you to apply regardless of your level of skills and previous advisory board experience. We want to include a wide range of perspectives and aim to create an advisory group that is diverse in age, gender and ancestry.

How long am I expected to be involved?
Membership to the CAG will be reviewed on an annual basis with term of appointment not exceeding 2 years.

Where will meetings be held?
Online or in person (location TBD). Meeting length not to exceed 2 hours in duration.

What support is offered?
$37.50 per hour honorarium. Training and support are offered by the Consumer and Community Involvement Program.
