Aboriginal English Voices and the Future of Technology

New technologies which rely on large language models need spoken language to be transcribed, but who decides how to transcribe the language?

This Micro Community Conversation will begin with a short introduction to our research programme and the conventions we have been using to represent Aboriginal English in writing. The conversation will use consumer experience of language representation to decide on the most user-friendly and culturally appropriate way to represent spoken language. Community voice, not schools or language academies, will help us come with the solutions we need.

Nyungar scholar Dr Glenys Collard will facilitate the Micro Community Conversation with the assistance of her research team, and the CCIProgram.
