All.Can Australia – Survey

All.Can Australia seek people affected by cancer to tell them about their experiences to help inform understandings of areas of need and improvement so policies can be developed and services improved to help them live well with and beyond a cancer diagnosis.

This survey follows on from the All.Can International Patient survey in 2018 and enables further exploration of the cancer care pathway in Australia by collecting the perspectives of patients, carers and survivors on diagnosis, treatment, recovery and beyond.

The 2018 international lived experience survey of nearly 4,000 participants in 10 countries highlighted priority areas of concern to patients and helped inform advocacy and action. 850 people in Australia took part and highlighted problems people experienced with diagnosis, ongoing side-effects of treatment, difficulty accessing psychosocial care and information and support services and the financial impacts of care.

This new research will allow a better understanding of the changing unmet needs and inefficiencies to help inform desired service improvements in Australian cancer care.

The survey will use the findings to amplify their perspectives and insights and take them to the places where services are designed and improved.

More information about the survey can be found in the letter from All.Can Australia co-chair, Professor Christobel Saunders, in addition to the plain language summary and statement.
