Understanding How Genes and Metabolism Influence Alzheimer’s Risk – Consumer Advisory Group

About the project and the involvement opportunity
This project is part of the efforts research is undertaking to understand why some people are more likely to get Alzheimer’s disease as they get older. We don’t fully know why this happens, but we do know that certain genes can increase the risk. This project will look at how these genes affect the body’s basic processes. By understanding how these genetic changes influence metabolism, we hope to find new ways to treat or slow down the disease. Understanding these connections better could help researchers find new treatments that can change how the disease develops.
