About the Project and the Involvement Opportunity
Staying active is one of the best ways to maintain brain health and lower the risk of developing dementia. This project aims to reduce dementia risk among older adults living in regional areas by helping people to be more physically active. The research focuses on preventing or delaying dementia by supporting older adults from the general community (those without dementia) to increase their activity levels. The team will adapt an existing online physical activity program so that it can be used easily by people living in regional areas.
Involving consumers is a key part of this work. Input from older adults with lived experience related to dementia will help ensure the program is practical, enjoyable, and relevant to real-life needs. This collaboration will guide the design of a program that genuinely works for the people it is intended to benefit.
