About the project and the involvement opportunity
There are certain situations during pregnancy and birth where antibiotics may be needed to help treat or prevent an infection. Infections can occur for a variety of reasons and may be easily treated, or occasionally can be more serious.
Researchers at the University of Western Australia conduct studies into several types of infection during pregnancy and early life with the aim to understand and improve prevention strategies. Consumer involvement is sought to better understand the experience and concerns of pregnant people who require antibiotics during pregnancy or birth, with the aim to identify new/strengthen research questions that will be of most benefit to our community. The research group has particular interest in people who have experienced Group B Streptococcus infection (GBS), however other pre- and post-natal infections are also of interest.
