NHMRC and CHF Consumer Statement Workshop

The National and Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and the Consumers Health Forum of Australia (CHF) are convening a stakeholder consultation workshop to begin the review process of the Statement on Consumer and Community Involvement in Health and Medical Research, (the Statement)

NHMRC and CHF understand the importance of engaging with consumers and the community on our agencies’ respective roles and activities, whilst also providing leadership and guidance to the health and medical research sector on the meaningful engagement of consumers throughout all stages of research and health care.

The Workshop will provide an early opportunity to contribute to forming the principles for consumer involvement in health and medical research that will underpin the updated Statement. The Workshop will be chaired by Ainslie Cahill AM, chair of NHMRC ‘s Consumer and Community Advisory Group and include presentations by a number of speakers and an interactive discussion. The speakers will be:

  • Deb Langridge – Head, Consumer and Community Involvement Program, WAHTN
