Paediatric perioperative environment and clinical care in children undergoing surgery – Community Conversation

The Paediatric research teams at Perth Childrens Hospital, Queensland Children’s Hospital and Women and Children’s Hospital Adelaide undertake medical research to help improve care and outcomes for children who come to hospital for surgery.

Researchers have recently spoken to adults and parents, now we want to hear the views of children and young people aged up to 18 years.

We would like your help in what to research in the following areas:

  • Hospital process:
o Your experience before hospital and surgery
o Your experience while in hospital
    o Your recovery after surgery
  • Pain Management:
    o In hospital
    o During recovery at home
  • Focus Areas – should we focus on these areas:
    o Anxiety
    o Live Rural or Regional
    o Chronic Conditions
    o Serious Illnesses
  • Communication
o How to tell you about your surgery
o How can you tell us about your hospital visit

Who is the target audience for this event?

  • Children and young adults aged 6- 18 years.
  • Children who have experienced surgery or are attending hospital for procedures or who have an interest in helping research
