Living with Bone and Joint Conditions – Community Conversation
This Community Conversation is now at capacity. We will place further EOI’s on a waitlist. Please email admin@cciprogram.org if you would like to be added to this waitlist. If a place becomes available, we will contact you.
Do you live with osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, bone cancer or other bone or joint conditions, or care for someone who does? Researchers from The University of Western Australia are hosting a Community Conversation to hear your experiences of living with skeletal disorders and how these conditions, and their treatments affect everyday life. Together we’ll explore what matters most to you, including your thoughts on how nutrition and metabolism might help prevent or treat bone problems. Your insights will help shape future bone health research and strengthen funding applications so they better reflect the priorities of people with lived experience.
This Community Conversation will bring together people living with skeletal disorders – such as osteoporosis and fractures, osteoarthritis, bone cancer or cancer that has spread to bone, and bone growth or development conditions – as well as family members and carers.
In a relaxed, small-group setting, we’ll talk about what everyday life is like with these conditions, what good care means to you, and what you feel is missing. Our research team is especially interested in how nutrients and metabolism in bone and bone marrow contribute to these disorders, and whether targeting metabolism could offer new ways to prevent or treat bone problems.
Your insights will help shape future bone and joint research and strengthen funding applications, so they better reflect the priorities of people with lived experience. All feedback will be de-identified, and you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable.
Experience required:
Lived experience of skeletal disorders (such as osteoporosis, fractures, osteoarthritis, bone cancer/bone metastasis, or bone growth/development conditions) and/or their family members or carers.
An $80 honorarium is offered to attendees and light refreshments will be provided on the night. Registrations are essential. Please complete the Expression of Interest (EOI) form below if you’d like to be considered for this Community Conversation. Because we aim to include a range of perspectives and lived experiences, places are limited and EOIs will be reviewed to ensure a balanced mix of participants with the relevant lived experience.
