Integrating Consumer and Community Involvement into Grant Applications – ANZBMS/BHF Tailored Masterclass
About this Masterclass
This session is the second in a two-part ANZBMS/BHF tailored masterclass series focused on strengthening consumer and community involvement (CCI) in bone health research. It builds on the foundational concepts introduced in Part 1 and focuses on how to effectively integrate CCI into competitive grant applications.
Why this matters
Funders increasingly expect clear, meaningful and well-described consumer involvement. Strong CCI can strengthen the quality, credibility and competitiveness of grant applications, but requires careful planning, resourcing and articulation.
This session supports researchers and consumers to move from intention to implementation.
What you will learn:
- What funders are looking for in consumer and community involvement
- How to design meaningful, proportionate involvement aligned to your research
- How to clearly describe CCI in grant applications (moving beyond tokenistic statements)
- How to budget appropriately for consumer involvement, including reimbursement and support
- Common pitfalls in CCI sections and how to avoid them
- How to demonstrate impact and value of involvement within your proposal
Who should attend?
- Researchers and clinicians working in bone health, skeletal research or related fields
- Researchers seeking practical guidance on getting started with CCI– the session is suitable for emerging, early, mid and senior career researchers.
- Consumers with lived experience of bone health conditions
- Carers, family members and community members interested in contributing to research
Eligibility and cost
There is no cost to attend for ANZBMS members and consumers with relevant lived experience. Please note, no consumer honorarium is payable for attending the training.
Consumers with relevant lived experience of bone health conditions, relevant lived experience may include (but is not limited to):

- Bone health impacts related to cancer treatment or chronic disease
- Experiences as a carer or family member supporting someone with these conditions
This is part of a 2-part series
This session builds on:
Masterclass 1: Consumer and Community Involvement in Bone Health Research (29 April 2026).
