Accessing exercise support during cancer treatment: Share your story through Photovoice (Perth)

Have you received cancer treatment in Perth? We’re inviting consumers to express interest in taking part in a research project using Photovoice — a creative method that uses photography and storytelling — to explore how people access (or struggle to access) exercise support during cancer care. Your insights will help shape better services for others.

We are looking for people in the Perth metro area who have received cancer treatment to share their experiences. Your involvement will help make sure future services are shaped by the needs and priorities of those who have been through cancer treatment.

As a part of this project you will need to be able to;

  • Attend an introductory workshop in Perth
  • Undertake a photography activity to represent your experiences
  • Join a one-on-one interview (online) to discuss your photos and stories
  • Participate in an online group discussion later in the year to share ideas and suggest solutions (this will be held on Friday 27 March 2026 10am to 12pm AWST)

Experience required:

  • We are looking for people who have experienced receiving cancer treatment in Perth within the last 5 years.
  • You will need to be willing to share your personal experiences and ideas and comfortable taking part in group discussions.
  • No prior research or photography experience is needed as we’ll provide guidance and support.

This project is part of an approved research study conducted through Edith Cowan University (2025-06525-KENNEDY).

An honorarium is offered to those involved in the project and light refreshments will be provided.

Please complete the Expression of Interest (EOI) form below if you’d like to be considered for this Community Conversation. Because we aim to include a range of perspectives and lived experiences, places are limited and EOIs will be reviewed to ensure a balanced mix of participants with the relevant lived experience.
